Tips for QR codes that scan reliably

Keep strong contrast. Dark code on a light background scans best, and inverted colors may fail on some phones.
Leave an empty border around the code and do not crop it.
Use a higher error correction level (Q or H) if you plan to print the code on rough surfaces or place a logo over it. Level L recovers about 7% of damage, M about 15%, Q about 25% and H about 30%.
Print at least 2 cm (about 0.8 inch) wide, and test the printed code with a few phones before a large run.
Shorter links make simpler codes that are easier to scan at small sizes.

This generator exports PNG images, which work well for web pages, documents and most print jobs. If your printer asks for a vector format such as SVG, you will need to export the QR code as SVG from a vector-capable tool.
